Pragotron is a Czech manufacturing company in the field of timing technology and visual information systems for passengers. It started manufacturing in the 19th century as the firm Jednotný čas. After that, it changed its name several times – Elektročas or Pragotron.
The Pragotron information boards were assembled from retractable leaf units that were controlled using code drums that adapted to the code that was set on the control panel. The counter was a relay. The motors in the panels that turn the information sheets are powered by 110V AC. The code selection system, however, operated with 48V DC. At stations, the control desk was usually located in the traffic office, where there was also a control board so that the dispatcher had an overview of the entire device. Today, control desks are mostly replaced by computers that control the entire information system, including the automatic station radio.
